Effect of Drought Stress on Morphological and Physiological Traits at Panicle Initiation Stage in Six Rice Genotypes (Oryza sativa L.)

Drought is one of the most prevalent forms abiotic environmental stress that reduce crop productivity. A pot experiment was performed in two Aman seasons under drought (40% field capacity, FC) and control (100% irrigations to study tolerance mechanism(s) based on morphological physiological traits six aromatic rice genotypes. Twelve treatments (6 genotypes × 2 irrigations) were arranged Complete Randomized Design carried out at Bangladesh Institute Nuclear Agriculture, Agricultural University, Mymensingh. In experiment, imposed panicle initiation stage where data recorded. Important (stem root dry weight) (photosynthesis chlorophyl content) attributes significantly (P>0.05) decreased 40% FC both years. Compared control, relative reduction above parameters, classified into tolerant (Binadhan-13 NERICA mutant) sensitive (RM-100-16, Ukunimodhu, Kalizira, BRRI dhan34) categories. Tolerant had smaller shoot mater (av. 7.73 5.56 %, respectively) than ones 19.32 21.80%, respectively). Low percentages discriminated Binadhan-13 mutant consistently as tolerant.
